Our Story
Our journey began in 2011 when founder George Tabakian, a Lebanese-Armenian entrepreneur, returned to his ancestral homeland with a vision: to bring the world’s attention to the nearly untapped golden resource of the Armenian highlands.
In 2013, George founded Mer Sarer Holding LLC (meaning “Our Mountains”), and by 2014, the Honey.am brand was born. What started as a small family initiative with vision and ambition has grown into a prestigious union of over 27 beekeepers located in different parts of Armenia, all dedicated to preserving traditional Armenian apiculture while meeting the highest international standards of purity.
Our Products
Honey.am offers a diverse range of natural honeybee products inspired by Armenia’s rich floral variety and the distinctive landscapes of its highland regions. The country’s diverse landscape is a beekeeper’s paradise with the most pristine, high-altitude regions of the country serving as our source, often at elevations exceeding 1,800 meters (6,000 feet). Each of our main products is named after its region of origin, reflecting the unique floral biodiversity of that specific land. Because our bees forage on rare, wild herbs and mountain flowers, every jar offers a unique “taste of place.” Furthermore, while we honor tradition, we also embrace culinary innovation.
Our portfolio features over 26 different products, including pure monofloral and polyfloral honeys, cream honeys, gourmet blends, as well as convenient honey sticks designed for modern, healthy lifestyles.
Our product portfolio includes:
- Raw Honey—distinctive in color, aroma, and flavor based on floral origin and terroir.
- Bee Pollen & Propolis—highly nutritious bee-harvested products with traditional wellness uses.
- Specialty Honey Gifts & Flavored Selections—curated offerings celebrating taste, tradition, and presentation.
Our honey is never cooked or overly processed, preserving maximum nutritional integrity and the authentic character of Armenian nature.
Sourcing & Beekeeper Network
Although MERSARER Holding LLC owns and manages beehives directly, approximately 95% of our honey is sourced from a broad network of local beekeepers across Armenia.
We support our beekeepers year-round by:
- Sharing advanced beekeeping techniques and innovations
- Providing natural, organic treatments to protect hive health
- Offering financial and educational support to sustainably expand hive capacity
This collaborative ethos ensures resilient rural livelihoods while preserving traditional craftsmanship and ecological balance.
Honey Processing Green Plant
Our honey processing plant, established in 2021 in Yeghvard city, is a purpose-built facility designed to preserve the purity and natural character of honey. Spanning 280 m², the plant operates under strict HACCP food safety standards, ensuring full traceability, hygiene, and quality control at every stage. Multiple dedicated processing lines allow us to handle honey gently and efficiently, minimizing heat exposure and mechanical stress to maintain its raw qualities, natural enzymes, aroma, and nutritional value.
The facility is fully powered by solar energy, utilizing on-site solar panels, and is equipped with its own sewage recycling system, making it an environmentally responsible and truly GREEN processing plant. Thoughtfully designed workflows, food-grade equipment, and controlled environments enable us to deliver consistently high-quality honey while aligning modern processing excellence with sustainability and respect for nature.
